Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Though the in built microphone  seems to be working, for example I can talk to Cortana and get a response, when I go to test the internal microphone in the Sounds App on Windows 10, the level bars do not move up and down. There is no response at all. My wife has an identical laptop and when I speak into the computer to test the levels her computer does respond. Therefore, I'm assuming it's a settings issue, which I have in advertently changed at some point.

Any ideas what setting(s) I need to change?

Thanks

Robert
