Chrome OS

My daughter has to use Zoom for classes now that we are all quarantined and she logged on to a zoom meeting and everyone was complaining of a terrible loud jack hammering sound. they figured it out that it was coming from my kids chromebook. when she has the video and audio on, it makes the sound. when the video is off, the sound works fine and when the sound is off, the video works fine. i have another chrome book and i do not have the same issue, i tried Zoom on all 4 samsung phones in the house.. also no issues. i tried using google hangouts on the same chromebook and had the same issue with the sound. i restarted the chromebook to no avail, same issue.

anyone know what the issue could be? the chromebook is in good shape and about a year and a half old.

please help....

thanks!!!

@jsel13 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the camera and sound will not work together.

Do not worry. I will try to fix the issue.

Let's Begin with a hard reset: click here for information.

When you plug the headphones, the Chromebook should recognize that they are plugged in.

Click on the status area at the lower right of the screen and you should see this:

Note the headphones icon. If you click on the ">" symbol to their right, you should see this:

And it allows you to select either the headphones or the internal speakers.

Select headphones to resolve this issue.
