pavillon dv7 notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I had my pavillon dv7 notebook ugraded from Windows 7 to windows 10. The sound was great before I updated. Now the sound basically comes out mainly out of the left speaker, is not very loud (even turned up all the way) and is very tinny and hard to hear. I can see that the old codec speaker software is gone and a difference speaker software is now on the computer. Is there a speaker software that I can download that would return my computer to the wonderful sound it used to have.

Hi:

Your notebook is not supported by HP for W10 since it was made prior to August of 2013.

HP Products Tested with Windows 10 | HP® Customer Support

No W10 drivers were developed for it.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if this W10 IDT audio driver from a newer model notebook also works on yours.

Restart the PC after installing the driver.

I recommend you create a system restore point before installing the driver in case it makes a bad situation worse.

  1. From the Start menu, type create a restore point.

  2. Select Create a restore point from the search results.

  3. Choose Create, and then follow the steps to create a restore point.
