I agree with you.  I took the suggested steps and it's still not working.

after spending a lot of time online with an HP tech I found out two things

1 I wasn't clicking on the" delete driver software box"  when uninstalling the driver also make sure you uninstall both drivers also make sure you are uninstalling the drivers under the "sound video and game controllers NOT the "audio inputs and outputs"

also the tech told me to use this link to reinstall the drivers

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

once you download it and launch the file scroll down to the setup file highlight it and click unpack

that should then launch the audio driver installation.

This solved my issue thankyou!

For anyone else struggling with this, make sure you uninstall the correct audio driver, there are 2 copies in the device manager, one in "Audio Inputs and Output" and another in Sound Video and Game.

Call Windows Update via the settings and install the update for Windows 10, version 1909.

HP Envy Laptop sound is gone after updates- possibly Windows 10 update

I was able to fix this issue with above solution. I didn't realize that Windows 10 had not been fully installed. Once it was fully installed the drives work perfectly.

Thank you!!!!
