after spending a lot of time online with an HP tech I found out two things
1 I wasn't clicking on the" delete driver software box" when uninstalling the driver also make sure you uninstall both drivers also make sure you are uninstalling the drivers under the "sound video and game controllers NOT the "audio inputs and outputs"
also the tech told me to use this link to reinstall the drivers
https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
once you download it and launch the file scroll down to the setup file highlight it and click unpack
that should then launch the audio driver installation.

This solved my issue thankyou!
For anyone else struggling with this, make sure you uninstall the correct audio driver, there are 2 copies in the device manager, one in "Audio Inputs and Output" and another in Sound Video and Game.
