HP Pavilion laptop 15 cw1
Microsoft Windows 11

When I updated to windows 11 my laptop for some reason deleted a lot of the drivers and audio was one of them. Now I've got audio but after a couple of minutes it starts sounding "crunchy". I tried deactivating audio enhancement and activated mono audio but nothing.

I tried updating the drivers from here but an error message pops up and tells me the driver isn't compatible with the current OS (Windows 11 ver 24H2 )

Hello FMiguel,

Thank you for posting your concern,

Troubleshooting "Crunchy" Audio on HP Pavilion 15-CW1 After Windows 11 Update

If you're experiencing issues with "crunchy" or distorted audio on your HP Pavilion 15-CW1 after updating to Windows 11, it may be due to missing or outdated drivers. Here's how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Update Your Drivers:

    • Visit HP's Support Website: Start by going to the HP Support website and enter your laptop's model number to find the latest drivers specific to your device.
    • Install the Latest Audio Driver: Look for audio drivers and download the latest one available for your model, which is compatible with Windows 11.
    • Use Device Manager:
      • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
      • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
      • Right-click on your audio device and choose Update driver.
      • Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
  2. Roll Back Driver: If the issue started specifically after updating a driver, you could try rolling back to a previous version:

    • Open Device Manager.
    • Find your audio device, right-click it, and select Properties.
    • Go to the Driver tab and select Roll Back Driver (if available).
  3. Adjust Audio Enhancements:

    • Right-click on the sound icon in the taskbar and select Open Sound settings.
    • In the Sound settings window, select Device properties under the output section.
    • Click on Additional device properties.
    • Go to the Enhancements tab and check or uncheck the Disable all enhancements box to see if it improves your sound quality.
  4. Reinstall the Audio Driver: Sometimes reinstalling your audio driver can resolve audio issues:

    • In Device Manager, right-click on your audio device and choose Uninstall device.
    • Restart your laptop and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
  5. Check for Windows Updates: Ensure that your system has all the latest Windows updates installed as these can include important fixes and patches related to sound and device issues.

  6. Check Volume Settings: Ensure that all your audio settings are properly configured and none of the volume settings are muted or set to zero.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider contacting HP Support for more tailored assistance.
