HP ENVY x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I have an HP Envy and have WIndows 10.  Since last week, I have done video conferencing with Zoom, with 3 different groups.  They all say they can hear a buzzing coming from my laptop.  If I go on my Iphone, they do not hear it, it is only with my laptop.  What can I do to correct this since I will be having 4-7 video conferencing a month.

Thanks

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

First ensure you have the latest drivers

I  suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted how it goes

Hi. Thank you for your suggestion.  I did everything you said to do.  I downloaded the latest drivers.  My computer was otherwise up to date, I have it set to automatically update.  I am doing a Zoom call on Saturday and Sunday and will let you know if it helped.  My laptop is only a year old.

Hello,

If I were to guess, the microphone is picking up the noise from your fan. You could try lowering your microphone volume and see if it helps, found a video here on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmunTzfs5gY and then test the audio with the Windows 10 recording app.

You could also use a headset with a microphone to avoid the buzzing noise.

Cheers

I have the same problem, and am also using my phone for audio. Interesting that you say this, my fan has been running constantly. I get the buzzing using the mic with headphones as well as the built in mic.

It is still happening.  Had two video calls over the weekend.   I do not hear a fan like someone else is saying.  Would I hear it?  Also, do not use headphones but did try it once and that did not help.

I have the same issue.  I can't use my HP Envy x360 in any video calls because people hear buzzing or some noise.  I do have a work around to use headphones, but I always wondered why this issue persists.  I took it to Geek Squad to have the sound card checked and it came back fine.  Just when I think that the issue is resolved and I can use my laptop freely without large headphone and microphone on my head, the buzzing sound still persists.

I have done everything that you provided down below and I am still getting that buzzing sound.  All my drivers have been updated, and I just don't understand why or where it comes from when all diagnostics check out perfectly.

Sincerely

Everything is updated and I've done all the troubleshooting checks -- but I have a theory.  The default built-in microphone on the Envy is a RealTek Audio device.  However: the built-in speakers on this laptop are Bang & Olafsun -- and there is a completely separate control panel for them, which ALSO has its very own microphone control.  I'm wondering if there are actually two audio input devices on the laptop that are competing with each other -- which causes the buzzing?

Same issue, and seems it started happening on this Envy360 once we started doing zoom/skype calls with kids school.  Have restarted, checked BIOS updates, added driver, ran all troubleshooting, etc...  Nothing has fixed it.  Happens if I speak direct to built in mic or if I use a headset with a mic.  Need some help to solve this issue.
