Hi @Guy2001

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for already checking the basics — I understand how frustrating it is to be present but unheard.

If others can’t hear you on Zoom but you can see and hear them, the issue is likely with your microphone settings, permissions, or device selection. Let’s walk through a few precise steps to restore your voice to the conversation.

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting for Zoom Microphone Issues (Windows 11)

1. Check Zoom’s Microphone Selection

  • Open Zoom and click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right
  • Go to Audio > Microphone
  • Use the dropdown to select your active microphone (e.g., “Internal Microphone” or “USB Mic”)
  • Click Test Mic and speak — you should see the input level move

2. Ensure Microphone Access Is Enabled in Windows

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone
  • Make sure Microphone access is turned on
  • Ensure Zoom is listed and allowed to use the microphone

3. Check Input Device in Windows

  • Go to Settings > System > Sound
  • Under Input, confirm the correct microphone is selected
  • Speak and check if the input volume bar moves
  • If not, click Troubleshoot and follow prompts

4. Update Audio Drivers

  • Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager)
  • Expand Audio inputs and outputs
  • Right-click your microphone > Update driver > Search automatically
  • Restart your PC after updating

5. Test in Another App

  • Open Voice Recorder (search in Start menu)
  • Record a short clip and play it back
  • If it works here, the issue is isolated to Zoom

6. Reinstall Zoom

  • Uninstall Zoom via Settings > Apps
  • Download the latest version from Zoom’s official site
  • Reinstall and test again

If you’re using a headset or external mic, let me know the model and connection type (USB, 3.5mm, Bluetooth) — I can guide you through device-specific checks. You’ve done a great job staying proactive — let’s keep going until your voice comes through loud and clear.
