Hello all!

My problem is that the notebook does not find my microphones at all. It is on a headset and it has an USB and a normal pink cabel too, and I had bought a headset converter but somehow I have the same issue. The headset must work properly, because both the USB and the pink cabel work well on my desktop computer. I've tried to use other USB microphones I have the same issue. The computer does not even recognize or find microphones if they are plugged in, even in the device manager nothing happens. As if I didn't put anything in the notebook. 😞 I'm very happy with this notebook but this issue drives me crazy because people can't hear me well when we play through the internal microphone.

Thanks for your help!

@EdgarAllanPro I appreciate the details, that said, on the image named - IMG_20191023_131050 - I see that this headset requires both connectors to be connected for it to work, you'll need to get a converter that looks like the one in the below image:

Or get a USB headphone instead, to avoid the converters to get this to work,

Let me know if you have any other questions.

@EdgarAllanPro What kind of microphone do you have? Could you share the brand name? So I could check if that's compatible with your device?

That said, here's a video with details on how to connect the microphone to your laptop: Click here to watch

If the issue persists, try the troubleshooter:

The Troubleshooting tool automatically finds and fixes many computer issues. Use it to troubleshoot microphone problems.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel.

  2. Click Troubleshooting.

  3. Under Hardware and Sound, click Troubleshoot audio recording.

    NOTE:

Administrator permission is required to run this program. If prompted, type the administrator password or provide confirmation.

  4. The Sound troubleshooter opens. Click Next. The troubleshooter begins checking the audio service status.

  5. Select the device you want to troubleshoot, and then click Next.

  6. Follow the on-screen instructions and make any changes suggested by the troubleshooter. When done, close the troubleshooter.

  7. If the problem persists, continue to the next step.

We may need to reset the privacy settings for the Microphone if the issue occurred after any recent windows updates:

  1. Open Settings from your start menu.
  2. Click on Privacy in order to access all your privacy settings.
  3. Select Microphone from the left pane and then click the Change button.
  4. Now, turn on the microphone for this device.
  5. Turn on Allow apps to access your microphone.
  6. Finally, in the app list, make sure to turn on microphone access for every app you want to give permission to access your microphone.
  7. Repeat the same exact steps but for your webcam this time.

If the issue persists, uninstall the microphone driver and restart to automatically install a fresh driver for the same.

  1. Open device manager, the fastest way is through the search bar:
  2. Open ‘Audio Inputs and Outputs’
  3. Left-click on your recording device.
  4. In the menu that opens up Click ‘Uninstall’.
  5. delete the driver. click apply/OK and then, restart the pc.

Keep me posted, as I (Or a trusted colleague) shall follow-up on this case to ensure the concern has been addressed,

And your device is up and running again, only in case you don't get back to us, first!

That said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

That'll help us, and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Hello!

Sorry for my late response I was busy this week and didn't have enough freetime to play, thus I couldn't check the posted methoud out.

First of all thank you very much for your help, I have a "Red Dragon" headset. It has an additional USB output for microphones too. I've tried to search for drivers but I haven't found any. I tried both methods and they still don't work. The laptop just doesn't find the headset. For instance if I put in the converter and I don't put in the headset part I can hear nothing at all. I can't disable the headset because they are together as speaker/headphone. When I put in the microphone nothing happens, I can't even hear a sound. I took some pictures that might help you (some of the pictures were too large in size so I could only upload them to google drive, I hope it is still acceptable in this format).

I checked the video and to be honest I don't have any drivers (as you can see on the photos) in the "sound video and game controllers". Just the "Mikrofon tömb" in the audio inputs and outputs.

I have similar problems with my camera too but that is not as crucial as my microphone problem, so after this problem is solved I might need your help to do that too!

Thank you very much for your time and help!

Thank you very much for the help!

I didn't know that I have to put in both at the same time, because on my desktop computer I only had to put in one of them to work.

It was such a basic thing, I feel stupid now.

Thank you very much for your help! Have a nice day!
