Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all,

After updating to Win10 build 1903, the stereo mix (Sound/recording) isn't working any more.

I came from build 1709 with everything working perfect.

I updated I while ago to 1809, but also in that build Stereo Mix didn't work anymore.

So I downgraded again to 1709.

But now, it seems Microsoft is gonna stop supporting 1709 very soon, so they are forcing me to upgrade to build 1809 (which I tried again and still no Stereo Mix working).

Yesterday I spend 2 hours with Microsoft support to upgrade my 1709 to build 1909 (without first having to update 1809). That way I could roll back to 1709 should 1909 also have problems with Stereo Mix (which it does). At the end of the upgrade ... no luck with Stereo Mix. With the Microsoft-respons: "Hmz, thats weird ... well, there's nothing more we can do.  You'll have to contact you're computer manufacture about this."

In other words: "can't help you, not our problem, bye bye, thank you, come again"

I updated the Realtek Drivers (in device management) but no luck there.

I update the driver of the Stereo Mix (in Soundsettings/recording) but no luck there.

And I tried to call a support (customer) service for HP in Belgium (which seemed to be a third party HP support center).

Only in English (probably a call center in India) and very rude, unfriendly guy telling me to take my laptop the a shop to solve the problem. And cut me off while I was still talking.

So is there any way / any body who can help me to solve this issue ?

@KristofS

Machine is probably too old, no new drivers for it

Please try newer Realtek aostware

Hope this helps.

Hi Banhien, thanks for your advice !

Although, after I updated the Service Pack, Stereo Mix was still not working.

It seems in Settings/Privacy/App authorization/Microphone, you have to check 'Allow Apps to use microphone'.

Probably with the update (I guess) the (internal) microphone was off (unchecked) concerning the Apps and seems it has to be checked in order to get input in Stereo Mix.

All is working again now.

Thx again for the help !
