OMEN by HP - 17-an013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

The windows 10 version 1903 update removed my built in speakers from my list of playback devices. I asked a microsoft agent and they told me I would need a realtek driver compatible with the 1903 build. The only driver currently available is for the 1809 build and it will not install, it gives an [error code: -0001] and it says 'no driver supported in this driver package.'

Can anyone give me a reply?

Is there a new driver in the works? I can't use my speakers at all.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  •  Are you seeing a RED X or Yellow exclamation mark on a sound icon?
  • Have you checked with external speakers Earphone or Headset

Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8.

BIOS default:

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Next, uninstall the Sound device from device manager.

  1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.
  2. Select Device Manager.
  3. Expand the entry. Right-click the Audio input and out and select Uninstall device.
  4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.
  5. Reboot the computer and install the Audio driver from this link this should fix the issue.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

I have headphones they work fine. If i remove them I see a red x on the volume icon.

I have not tried a hard reset or the BIOS thing but i did reset my pc to its factory settings. This did not fix the issue because the current windows version cannot be downgraded.

My speakers do not show on device manager so i cannot uninstall it

Thank you for posting back.

This sounds like Audio driver related issue,

Have you tried installing the audio driver after factory default settings? If not, download and install the Audio driver from this link

If this fails, I would request you to contact our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to Remote into your computer and sort this out. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/
