I hate to be that guy, but have you tried turning it off and on again. Also, have you tried blowing into the headphone jack, or spraying a "can-of-air" into it?

I had a similar issue to this, and spraying a can of air like this:

into the headphone jack seemed to fix it.

Im not kidding, sometimes things get stuck in there and only half of the optimal contact between the jack and the port is made.

I really don't know what else could be done, maybe the port itself is faulty, or the graphics chipset is faulty.

Actually, I just remembered something. To resolve the issue, please try these basic steps:

1. Go into Control Panel, then Sound.
2. Look for the Recording tab.
3. Select your microphone/headset as the default device, and press OK.

If these steps do not work, this Microsoft forum has a few more suggestions: How prevent sound from playing through both headphones and speakers. Hopefully this helps.
