okay. as i said, i am posting this as a new thread since all the others were at least a year old--and the 'chosen solutions' did not work.
problem is that i cannot find/access the beats audio control panel.
nor is the icon in my taskbar.
one solution was to uninstall/reinstall the IDT driver etc.
issue persists.
tried overwrite of SP63555, which is the solution that worked for all previous askers.
not me. issue persists
i really didn't care until now. i want to adjust the eq, but, as i said, there is no audio control panel.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks.

Hi,
Try the IDT HD Audio Software package below – this should also provide the Beats gui.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71886.exe
When the installation has completed, restart the notebook.

thanks for the imput, DP-K. sadly, i have uninstalled, reinstalled, tried SP36555 and SP71886--all to no avail.
i don't even know how to even begin to try to find the beats control panel, as it does not come up in search and is not there in the IDT folder... UGH!!

I don't know whether this relevant or not.
Most software developer did not agree on the same protocol therefore some softwares is not compatible with the OS.
Have you tried to download the driver or software from Beats them self?
hope it helps.
Best regards,
Bellmond

Rithurawat, i actually already watched that video and searched for SP59542--and when i tried to install it, i got an error message. pretty sure that happened because that was the one for his model. the one i keep seeing mentioned is SP63555--which seems to work for everyone but me...

hi Maké. thanks, but i never said my speakers weren't working. i am referring only to the beats audio. i have IDT installed, but beats does not show in my notification area, nor can i find the beats GUI anywhere.

...but, now the left speaker is not nearly as loud as the right one now. no way to adjust. no GUI. help!!
AND, i remembered the IDT folder on my C: drive. yay!! i figured, "great, reinstall the orignal"--alas, whilst attempting the setup, received 'unknown error".
this is ludicrous--and, please, the last thing i need to hear is "reinstall the OS"--like MS tells me whenever they don't have an answer for something...
desperate here. none of the solutions that worked for everyone else have worked for me--and i am weary...
