brightness and volume keys

hp envy 13
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, my laptop brightness and volume keys don't seem to work anymore, and it's only been 2 months since i bought this laptop. Restarting the laptop doesn't help. Also, Device Manager -> Monitors -> right click on Generic PnP Monitor -> Properties--> enable doesn't work for me because it's already enabled.

Any solution ?

Thanks in advance!

brightness and volume keys

Hello, @sherley29 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thanks for joining HP Support Forums. I’d glad to be of your assistance!

I understand that your Envy laptop is not responding to the brightness and volume keys. There has been major windows update (creators update) and that could be the reason for the issue. Updating the laptop drivers including the display and audio drivers could help you fix this issue. I would recommend using the HP support assistant to perform the updates.

HP Support Assistant is a software program designed to help you keep your computer in working order, prevent potential problems from arising, and resolve problems quickly and easily. The program also provides valuable system information that you need when troubleshooting computer problems. Please go to http://hp.care/2gFA6Q8 to install the HP SA if you do not have it already.

Also, if you have the HP SA installed then go to http://hp.care/2gqoIri and follow the steps under “Checking for HP updates’ to find and install the updates.

If unable to update the drivers using the HP SA, go to the device manager, right-click on the display driver and choose "update the drivers". Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the updating. Restart the PC once done and check for the issue resolution.

If the issue still persists, please reply with the complete product number of your notebook. If unsure, please check: http://hp.care/2oPCMBG

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance.

Cheers 🙂
