dvd will noy play but cd wi

Hi:

 

It could be a couple of things...

 

The usual reason is because there is no DVD playing software installed that can play DVD's.

 

You can find the DVD playing software you need on your notebook's support page.

 

The other reason is the DVD laser has gone bad and the optical (CD/DVD) drive will have to be replaced.

 

The CD uses one laser and the DVD uses a different one inside the optical drive.
