hdmi port not working

hp laptop intel pentium
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

i got this laptop for christmas from my wife started using it and started using the hdmi port to stream thru my tv and after i updated to windows ten the hdmi port stop working.

 

edition windows ten

os build 1607

product id : 00325.80569-42003-anoem

processor: intel(r) pentium(r) cpu n3540 @2.16ghz

ram 4.00 gm

system type 64-bit oprearting

x64 based processor

 

please help

hdmi port not working

Check the device manager under display adapters. If it shows Microsoft Basic then that explains it. That video driver only supplies basic function not HDMI output and we need to get you the right video driver.

Even tho...if Windows 10 does not have the right driver in its database it will substitute a crippled generic driver. So you had the right driver before Windows 10 but may not have it now. Do you know where to find the device manager?

The cable, settings on the tv, a number of things. Connect the laptop to the tv with the hdmi cable. Be sure to set the tv to receive input from the right hdmi port. Use the windows key on the keyboard plus the p key...tap at the same time. 

 

You should get a dialog on the right side of the screen allowing you to project to the external display...clone extend, etc. 

 

Let us know if that gets you a picture on the tv.
