HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg2000 (4U8D7AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

hello!!!  HP Pavilion 15 laptop. Works great but no shows "no audio device is installed" when I hover over speaker icon.  When I go to sound settings, I see "no output device found".  Device manager under "Sound, video and game controllers"  shows all my Bluetooth speakers/earbuds, but no sound card.   Under "Sound" playback, under "Select a playback device below to modify its settings:" I see my Bluetooth devices,, and they all work fine. But there is is no laptop sound device to enable, or to update the drivers, etc.

I ran the HP support assistance, and it has a boot mode diagnostic. That has the ability to do low level tests of all the laptop bits. I ran all the tests, all was fine, but the audio tests pays a number of tones, and you tell the test how many tones you heard, if you counted the number correctly, and select that numbers, the audio play back test passes.  For this HP laptop, the sound PLAYS just FINE!!!  And as iceing on the cake, the microphone test plays a little tone sequence, that gets recordeded, and played back -- tis process validates that your microphone, and speakers, and sound card, all work fine.  And mine did. They all work on a pre boot basis. So there is no problem with the hardware.  The internal sound card is there and works.

So this is a Windows services, config something problem. or something problem with settings.  I have run every diagnostic test, and they all end with saying "no device found" or "no output device found", which we sort of know.

I need to find out how to get the internal sound card to be recognized.  help!!!!! thank you.

Pease try a clean install Audio driver

1. Download https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp131501-132000/sp131797.exe

                and save on your computer
2. Use Device Manager to uninstall audio driver (if any),
3. Reboot machine,
4. Install downloaded file above,
5. Reboot machine.

Hope this helps.

I downloaded the file, removed anything sound related (uninstalled?), ran the exe, and had the same result...nothing shows up in DM, see below.  As I mentioned, when I ran the UEFI, the sound card beeps and the mic records just fine. So I know the internal sound card works at the device level. Thank you for trying to help me!!!  I 1000% sure i did someting stupid...I turned off a service, deleted something, or like that.

What else can I try?? thank you thank you!!

Hello!  The only device that gets installed is this guy....it shows the trouble icon in device manager, and says there is no driver for it.  I point the update process to the realteck driver file you sent me, but it tried, and then failed to using anything there.  So I uninstall, then make sure to run the file you sent, then reboot.  All with the same result.  Rats!!!  What else can I try? Sorry for being so bad at this stuff. It is maddening, actually, so I really appreciate the help.

There are plenty of up-to-date drivers here.
