I removed Beats Audio on Windows 8.1 with your help (as it doesn't function at all for sound recording and play back).
The computer was updated to Windows 10, but now the problem has re-appeared. What are the steps we should take to remove Beats Audio in Windows 10 and how can we prevent updates from reversing this?
Thanks a lot

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums!
I read that you wish to remove Beats Audio from your notebook and use the generic Windows drivers on your HP Pavilion Envy Notebook. You could try these steps from @The Great Deku Tree.
Press Windows + R.
Type msconfig and click OK.
Click the Start up tab.
Uncheck IDT PC Audio.
Click Apply.
Reboot.
Press Windows + R.
Type devmgmt.msc and click OK.
Expand Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
Right click IDT device and click Uninstall
Check the box to remove the driver.
Reboot.
This should disable the Beats Audio allowing you to uninstall it.
Then you can use Windows 10 generic drivers preventing the Beats install.
Please get back to me how this goes.

Many thanks for the message, for the moment the problem appears to be solved after speaking to one of your advisers on the phone. I accessed Beats Audio via the Control Panel and unchecked the box under 'Listening' - & the sound compression problem seems to be solved. My son hasn't tried recording yet though, so I may need to go back to these instructions yet.
Thanks again,
