Notebook - 15-ay009dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I was deleting some files on my computer, when it stalled then shut off. I turned it back on, and now it loops the boot cycle. There are 2 different errors on the BSOD: FAT FILE SYSTEM and NTFS FILE SYSTEM. I'm unable to get it to run in safe mode, but maybe I'm not doing it correctly (hit ESC while booting, then choose F11)? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12376/windows-10-start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

EG:

Before you enter safe mode, you need to enter the Windows Recovery Environment (winRE).

To do this, you will repeatedly turn your device off, then on:

  1. Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
  2. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
  3. On the first sign that Windows has started (for example, some devices show the manufacturer’s logo when restarting) hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
  4. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
  5. When Windows restarts, hold down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off your device.
  6. Press the power button again to turn on your device.
  7. Allow your device to fully restart. You will enter winRE.

Now that you are in winRE, you will follow these steps to take you to safe mode:

etc etc

If in doubt please ask.

I followed those instructions, trying a few times. It always goes back to trying to boot, then the 2 blue screen errors. I've also tried doing a hard reset, but that doesn't do anything either. When the HP logo comes on screen at the beginning of the boot cycle, it says preparing automatic repair under the HP logo.

Next I would insert my recovery DVD/USB and press ESC and F9 bóot to a recovery screen.

My mom gave this computer to me (she bought it new but never used it). She never gave me a recovery DVD and I never made one.

Hi

AsI live in the UK I can go to a Supermarket / Newsagent and buy Linux Magazine with a cover Disk and then use that to make a W10 DVD/USB.

OR

Get a friend family member school library PC to make one.
