Hi @ORBS,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the power light on your HP 15 Laptop is only coming on for a brief moment before turning off and the orange light stays on, it could indicate a hardware issue or a power-related problem. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
- Check the Power Adapter: Ensure that the power adapter is properly connected to both the laptop and a functional power outlet. Try using a different power outlet and see if the issue persists. Also, inspect the power adapter for any signs of damage or wear.
- Remove External Devices: Disconnect all external devices (such as USB drives, external monitors, etc.) from the laptop. Sometimes, a faulty external device can cause power issues.
- Reset the Battery: If your laptop has a removable battery, try removing it, then hold down the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power. After that, reinsert the battery and try turning on the laptop again.
- Check for Overheating: Overheating can cause laptops to behave unexpectedly. Make sure the laptop's vents are not blocked, and check if the internal fan is working properly. You can also try cleaning the vents using compressed air.
- Hardware Diagnostic Test: Many HP laptops have built-in hardware diagnostic tools that you can access during startup. Check your laptop's user manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to run these tests. They can help identify any hardware issues.
- Reset BIOS/UEFI Settings: Sometimes resetting the BIOS/UEFI settings to their default values can resolve power-related issues. Refer to your laptop's manual for instructions on how to do this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
