A month old, HP Envy x360 convertble 15mDR0012dx does not turn ON even with 95% battery power.

Hi, I've purchased a HP Envy x360 m Convertible Model No. 15m-dr0012dx a month ago (On 03 August 2019, from  the US store, Best Buy). It's all going well with this laptop till date. Today when I tried to turn ON the laptop which already has 95% battery back up, did not turn ON even when I tried charging on AC power. The charging LED turns solid RED but not turn ON the laptop. I checked related forums on various websites, came across an advise to hard reset the laptop by pressing POWER ON and mute buttons simultaneously. This worked for me. And the laptop turned ON!

Now, my question is: Is this a standard way to hard reset a laptop? Does HP have any other standard solution to this problem? Do I need to still raise a concern to HP under warranty claim?

You should not be having problems like this with a new PC!


You paid for free HP Tech Support as part of the warranty coverage, so you might as well make use of it.


While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about troubleshooting and repairing your machine remotely.

If they are unable to fix your PC, then you need to explore what options you have to get it replaced under the warranty.
