Hello. My daughter got a prompt to update the bios and clicked to do it.  BIOS seemed to update and laptop restarted, but did not boot up.   When I power up, I get a RECOVERY blue screen, and Your PC Needs to be Repaired. F1 to enter Recovery or press ESC for UEFI Firmware Update.   I tried to use all those options but nothing working.

Thanks much.  I was able to run system diagnostics and get to the  point to either update or roll back the bios.    I chose rollback the bios and got a screen that shows current as F36 and prior as F21, with a button to "Rollback Now".  I selected that and got the following - "The System BIOS rollback Failed. Unable to open BIOS Signature file".

Any suggestion as to how I can roll back the BIOS to the prior version? Can I do that with a USB drive?

Thanks.  I followed the video from the link below. It appears to be doing what the video shows, it restored until 100% and then it verified until 100%.  I waited for the seconds to wind down and let it reboot on its own.  Then got a screen to press "enter" to continue with startup.  However, when it started up I was back to the same screen below.

Hello. I first ran the fast test and everything passed.  I then ran the extended system test and again, everything passed.

@7ofUS:

You are having an Windows boot error and apparently, it's caused by a bios update. My laptop had the same error when the Windows Update went wrong.

The Windows bootloader uses BCD data, which resides on the efi partition. If BCD is corrupted, a laptop never boots into Windows, resulting in BCD 0xc0000098 error.

you can rebuild BCD in command prompt in the Windows Recovery Environment via an Win 10 installation usb drive from the Microsoft Media Creation Tool. You just need a working computer and a usb flash drive to make a bootable usb drive. Once you create a usb drive, a repair work itself isn't complicated. I fixed my laptop from command prompt. If you wish to fix the error, make a usb drive and let me know. If you've never made a usb drive before, you can use a link below:
