Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

Hello,

my Windows 8 (x64) crashed and won't boot so I want to repair installation or reinstall windows but I have a problem with booting from DVD. First boot device is set to HDD and my BIOS is locked with password so I cant change boot order. I can only login as guest in BIOS. Is there any way I can bypass or reset this password?? I can provide additional info if needed. Tnx in advance.

Hello Marnet,

Welcome to HP Support Forum !

There is no master password or generator for EliteBooks or ProBooks.

This is to inform you that all HP Business Notebooks such as Probooks  or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models infact they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial Number and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.

  1. Please have a look at this link.

  1. Replace the BIOS chip

  1. Please Contact HP Business Notebook support they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
