My computer is locking me out whenever I restart, and I've had no luck trying to fix it. Sometimes when I restart it, it will boot up normally, but now that's not working, and I am completely locked out. I get the same code every time when failing to enter the correct password 3 times in a row -- 84692288

I've tried the codes given on the bios-pw site, and have had no luck. I've restarted it a million times hoping it would boot up normally, and it hasn't yet 😕 I usually keep it on for this reason but I think the battery died momentarily, and now I'm locked out.

I need my laptop for school.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! 🙂

That is known as a Disable Codes and none of the codes you find on the Internet are going to do you any good.

We don't provide Disable Code bypasses anymore.

I'm really sorry that we can not help you with this, but Community policy prohibits us from assisting you in any way with bypassing or resetting passwords.

For BIOS or power-on password resets, read this HP thread: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06368824.

If you are not prepared to spend the money to get HP to replace the motherboard for BIOS password resets, you could take the PC to a local repair facility to see if they can do it for you -- but we are unable to assist in that.

I sincerely appreciate your response. I've called around a bit and so far, the only place I've been able to find that can do it (Office Depot) will charge me 130$ for what would likely take less than an hour. It seems unreasonable to me. Again, though, thank you 🙂
