Omen 15-dc0051nr

My OMEN laptop is overdue for a BIOS update.  Downloaded BIOS  F.12A as sp102092.exe (after changing OS to W10, though I run openSuse LInux).  Following instructions found on hp.com, I ran sp102092.exe to put the update on a USB drive.  On both a windows machine and in Wine on my Omen I get the same error.  After I select the USB drive as the place to put the results, the program issues the error "failed to extract cab" and shuts down (exits with 0 as the result) when I ack the error.

I have marked the .exe file as executable and the file is owned by my user ID on the Linux machine.   The Windows machine is in the public library, where I checked the box in the HP program to run as admin.

Searching for "failed to extract cab" I found https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/Linux-HP-Elitebook-2570p-UEFI-BIOS-update-fai... which doesn't match my experience with sp102092.  For example, the USB drive doesn't contain any files, such as a log.

All suggestions appreciated.
