Hello,

I am working on a 15-dy2091wm with a damaged Windows install.

To correct this, I created a Windows 11 install media and tested the media on another machine.

That machine had no issues with the install media.

I used the media to boot and install Windows onto this HP laptop.

However, to do so, I required the Intel RST drivers.

After installing Windows, the system rebooted from the OS installed on the laptop.

However, this fails with the BSOD INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE, presumably as the OS is unable to be located without the driver used in the previous step.

How can I:

  • Use WinRE to copy over the drivers from the Intel RST setup step to the NVMe to avoid the issue
  • Reinstall Windows and include the drivers in the copy process
  • Disable whatever strange pseudo-RAID controller is blocking a change to ACHI/RAID modes in the disk controller

Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Hi:

You can use the HP cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall Windows, the drivers and the software that originally came with the PC.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility.  You will need a 32 GB USB flash drive to create the recovery media with.

You can download the software from the Microsoft Store.

Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter the notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.

The PC's product number is: 491D1UA#ABA
