Hi @Jae999
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
Thanks for sharing that—seeing a battery warning at startup is definitely not the kind of welcome anyone wants. The message in your image indicates that the system has detected a non-original battery, which may limit fast charging and trigger safety alerts during boot.
Let’s walk through a few steps to help resolve or minimize this issue:
🔍 Step 1: Confirm Battery Authenticity
- If the battery was recently replaced, double-check that it’s compatible with your laptop model.
- Genuine batteries typically have a QR code and part number that match the system’s expected specs.
- If you're unsure, you can compare it with the original battery or check the part number on the official support page.
🧪 Step 2: Run a Battery Diagnostic
- Turn off your laptop completely.
- Power it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- Press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Power > Battery, then click Run once.
- Review the results—if it says “Replace,” the battery may not be functioning properly.
🔄 Step 3: Update BIOS and Drivers
- Go to the support page for your laptop.
- Enter your model number and download the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
- Install them and restart your laptop.
🧼 Step 4: Reset Battery Connection
- Power off the laptop and unplug it.
- If the battery is removable:
- Remove it carefully.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reinsert the battery and power on.
- If it’s non-removable, skip this step.
Let me know how it goes or if you’d like help checking the battery part number or running diagnostics. We’ll get this sorted so your startup feels a little less dramatic!
