Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have tried to update my bios with the  SP81296.exe. It seemed the update was fine, but NOW I have a huge problem! I had a password set in the bios and I do remember my password very well!!! My password is NOT accepted anymore AND the bios did NOT upgrade! I found out after rebooting my Laptop and tried to access via F10 the Bios Settings to  re-enable the Hyper-visor settings for the virtual environment. I am working for 25 Years as an Admin and IT-Security Specialist, but this has NEVER happened before! Some ime ago I had one of our Business-Laptops locked out from the Bios as well and Your Support team was sending me a "blob"file or SMC.bin, which successfully unlocked the bios again. The user at this time was setting the password and we were unable to contact him to retrieve it.  In principle the condition now is not exactly the same, but I need to unlock my Bios...

Hi:

Unfortunately, there is nothing we can do to help you, since HP will no longer supply the required SMC.bin file that is used to clear the BIOS password.

That was the only way it could be done.

Removing the CMOS battery will not clear the P/W.

HP issued this document recently...

Also the forum rules were amended on 1 March 2019, which no longer allow us to help with removing passwords.
