HP Notebook - 15-f272wm (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop keeps saying no boot device. I do a clean install of windows 10 and a couple days later when attempting to start laptop is cannot find a boot device. I have put in a new ssd drive, ran scan disk and chkdsk. No errors were found. The disk shows up in Windows but not in bios. As a matter of fact there is not even a category for storage or hdd/ssd even listed in the bios. Help this is driving me crazy.

Thanks

@Wvbroker

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue.

Let's run diagnostics to rule out other hard drive issues-

  1. Start or restart the computer.
  2. Press F2 repeatedly during startup to enter the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility.
  3. Select Component Tests > Hard Drive > Quick Test.
  4. Select drive C:.
  5. Click Run Once.
  6. Once the test completes, results are displayed on the screen.

If the drive fails any of the tests, write down the failure ID (24-digit code)

And, also determine if Optane memory is installed and working normally

  1. Start or restart the computer.
  2. Press F10 repeatedly during startup to enter the BIOS setup utility.
  3. Navigate to the location indicated in the pictures below, based on the BIOS layout you see:
Configuration > UEFI HII Configuration > Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology

Advanced > Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology

If Intel Optane is not listed, the computer does not have Optane memory.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
