Bios update F.2D Rev.A bricked my ENVY dv7-7243cl

The firmware update proceeded as expected.  All programs were shut down.  Power plugged in.  Blue bar went all the way across.  It informed me that it would now reboot.  Screen went to shut-down type background and then black as it usually does when booting.  Then it doesn't boot.  Nothing on the screen.  Fan is runnning. Power light and amber light on the f12 key are on.  Left it sit that way for 10 minutes, just in case.  Won't respond to ctrl-alt-del or power button.  Had to hold down the power button to turn off.  Won't respond to any function keys held down during boot.

I had a similar problem. Turn off your laptop, unplug battery and ac power(cord).

Then hold the power button down for about 10 seconds. Then try and turn it back on

Thank you for you post.  Unfortunately I already tried that.

Next, on another PC and from that same bios upgrade program (HP System BIOS Update Utility) I was trying to use the "Create Recovery USB flash drive" option, but it is grayed out (not selectable).   I tried on a couple different PC's.  I am unable to create it.  If I could, apparently you just have to plug it in to the laptop, and hold down Windows+B while you power it on.

So I found my original hard drive and put it back in the PC.  Then I booted up holding down Windows+b and it automatically flashed the bios to the older version and everything is working.  I'm going to try to flash the new bios again.   If it fails again, I'm wondering how to report to HP that it may be bad?

Ok, tried it again.  Same result.   This bios file is no good.   HP, please help.

The kicker is that it's a relatively important security update.   Even HP thinks so as this is the text in the information for the upgrade: "NOTE: HP strongly recommends transitioning promptly to this updated BIOS version."

Also, it will run the option "Create Recovery USB flash drive" if I run it from my fixed PC (with the old bios installed).  But I checked the usb stick and there are no bios files on the usb stick.  They're supposed to be in the "Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current" folder.

Thanks for the suggestion.  I'm not one to ask for help before lots of research and attempts.  I've been through that page and the video on making the usb stick and booting with windows+b.  I've tried 3 different usb sticks, an 8 gig, a 2 gig, and an old 128 Mb stick.  The copy program doesn't copy all the files there, though it doesn't show any errors.  I've even tried preformatting them as fat32 and naming them HP_TOOLS.  Also, the BIOS Update Utility refuses to allow creation of a usb stick from any other PC than my HP laptop.

So now I'm stuck back on F.10 bios from 2012.

If anyone has actually gotten this particular bios file, sp68425, to work properly on a Dv7, please let me know.  If so it would be awesome if you could get me a listing of the files on the usb stick (showing hidden and system files too) and I'll copy them there manually. 

I'm wondering if there is a .net issue or some library issue with InsydeFlash.exe that is failing.

Did you find a solution for recovering the faulty HP bios upgrade that you bricked your laptop?

Exact same thing has happened to me. BIOS got flashed successfully. After restart, laptop screen remains blank. Tried everything such as Windows+B and Windows+V. The option to recreate recovery bios disc is greyed out.

My laptop is exactly same as yours. HP envy dv7 7243cl.  Any suggestions will be highly welcome.
