HP Omen 15
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've had this laptop for 5 years and never had a problem. Over the weekend it suggested some updates and one of them was bios. It did it's install to 100% and restarted. Then there it sat the next 2 days on a black screen. I never removed power hoping it would eventually pop up but nothing.

Turning the computer off and on gets me LED lights and fan but it doesn't go to any screens and stays black.

Things I have tried:

Disconnectingng battery and power and waiting while pressing power key (no cmos battery in this model as far as I know).

Holding windows plus B (tried V as well) while pushing power for 2-3 seconds then continuing to hold those buttons.

Checked each ram chip individually by pulling them.

Flashing bios using a USB. Doesn't do anything when plugged in.

HP did this to my computer and I'm pissed. I expect some sort of support considering they are the reason it's broken. They suggested a broken update and now I have to buy another computer because of it. Won't be an HP depending on how this support goes. I'll drop 3k somewhere else.

Sorry, that's my vent for the day. This is so irritating. I never update bios unless it's absolutely necessary for this reason. Any ideas?

Hi@Naterball, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

We reviewed your post and I understand that the  Notebook is not Powering ON,

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps

Do you see a light at the place where the charger connects to the laptop? If yes then it indicates that the charger is all fine.

I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:

  • Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
  • Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.

F6 + Power Button

  • CMOS Rest ( combination of windows button and letter 'V' then push the power button ones and release the windows and letter 'V' after 5sec

If the laptop does not power on then please continue with the below steps:

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery out.
  • Connect only the battery and check if the laptop powers on.
  • Likewise, remove the battery out (if removal battery ) and connect only the charger and check if that helps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
