HP Notebook - 15-bs026nh
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello!

I updated the BIOS to the latest version but after completion and restart the screen is not turning on anymore.
I tried it with an external monitor but also nothing.
The fan is spinning, the power led is on and there is a little color change in the black screen (I guess it gets some power when turning on), I can hear also the speakers getting power.
When I removed the RAM the CapsLock blinks 3 short and 2 long as it should be, also tried to replace it to the other slot, and bought a brand new stick too.
Tried the USB recovery thing also with a FAT32 pendrive, but there is nothing when holding the Win+B or Win+V key combination.
Checked the HP Cloud Recovery Tool app, when I enter the ProdID it says it's invalid, contact HP support.

Am I doing something wrong or what should I do?

What should be the magic key combination for the recovery and how long do you have to hold it down?
Is there any specification which USB port should be used for the recovery and for the USB stick format (primary FAT32 partition, bootable DOS?)?
Is the SSD need to be present during the recovery process?

Model 15-bs026nh
SN# [edit]
ProdID 2HN53EA#AKC

Thank you in advance!
Peter

Hi @BentMercury ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Notebook - 15-Bs026nh is experiencing a black screen after a BIOS update. Don't worry, there are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Power Reset:

  • Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and charger, then try powering on again.

2. BIOS Recovery (if applicable):

  • HP notebooks might have a BIOS recovery key combination. Refer to your HP user manual or search online for your specific model's BIOS recovery method. It might involve holding a key like "Windows + b" or "Windows + V" while pressing the power button.
  • If the recovery screen appears, follow the on-screen instructions to potentially reflash the BIOS.

3. Check Connections:

  • Ensure the power cable is securely plugged into both the outlet and the laptop.
  • If you're using an external monitor, double-check the connection between the monitor and laptop (HDMI, VGA, etc.).

4. Remove External Devices:

  • Disconnect any external devices like printers, USB drives, or external hard drives. Sometimes these can interfere with the boot process.

Refer to this document: HP Notebook - 15-bs026nh user manual

HP PCs - The computer starts but the screen remains blank (Windows 11, 10)

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
