HP Notebook - 14-df0011wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My son's laptop restarted during a Windows 10 update and now will do nothing. When I press the power button it is just a black screen as if the computer isn't on. However, the light comes on and the hard drive light comes on, though it does not flash as if it is reading the drive. I'm afraid something is wrong with the hard drive.

I've done a power drain with the battery removed. I reseated the ram as well. No luck. No icons or anything on startup. Nothing with a secondary monitor attached either. The warranty for it literally expired on Christmas Eve! So discouraged.

Update: We get the "Bios Updated Initializing" screen then the computer immediately restarts to a black screen.

It is not booting the BIOS. When we do the windows symbol + B on startup we are able to reinstall the bios. When the computer restarts after we press continue at the end of the bios repair/install we get the black screen again. Every time we do a startup we don’t even get the bios screen.
