So yesterday, I was busy trying to delete a shared folder on my laptop (Pavilion G7). I did not succeed as the system kept telling me it was a shared folder and could not be deleted, it said that I needed to have admin rights to delete the folder. This was strange as I did indeed have admin rights as I had logged in with a user account with admin rights. Anyway, during my third attempt to delete this folder, the PC just went blank! I tried to restart but the screen remains black/blank.
The power light goes on and stays on and I can hear the fan running, the CD/DVD ROM drive seems to be working but the Caps lock and Num lock keys do not light up when pressed. The led on wireless network key stays red throughout and this is the case each and every time I start-up. I have tried connecting to an external monitor but to no avail. I have tried all the hard reset tricks but nothing has worked.
I then tried to setup a bootable USB flash drive so that I can try and repair the BIOS but if one follows the HP guidelines the process doesn't work. I downloaded the right BIOS file but HP says that the BIOS update and recovery utility is supposed to run or show up at some point so that I can create a bootable BIOS USB flash drive. I am unable to create this bootable drive because all that happens is that the BIOS file is extracted, saved on my working PC or USB but the BIOS update and recovery utility doesn't come up at all so I am not able to create a bootable USB drive.
Today, I put the laptop on and there was actually some action on the screen and I was able to get into the BIOS, however my joy was short lived and after restarting the laptop the screen went blank again. I had to restart the PC because I was prompted to do so, the machine was talking about doing repairs to the OS (windows 7) but after pressing enter for the next step the machine went into a loop. Prior to the screen going blank again, lines started showing on the screen, this happened while I was running some diagnostics, I then had to power off after which the screen went blank. To add to this, I still cannot create a bootable USB drive because of the issue noted above so I am stuck.
Can anyone help? Does HP know that their guidelines on creating a bootable USB flash drive do not work for some BIOS files/machines? How else can I create a bootable flash drive to repair the BIOS? How do I resolve the blank screen issue?

I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
Firstly run Hard Reset: Follow steps from the link: https://hp.care/2GnkMa8. (if the computer doesn't start up/power on you can skip the next step)
Next BIOS default:
- Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
- Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
- On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
- Press F10 to Save and Exit.
- Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
- Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Note: Use a second working computer with an active internet connection to create a BIOS recovery USB flash drive.
