(I am not sure if I have Windows 8 or 8.1) So, I was playing ROBLOX (a game) on the computer and I also had Google Chrome open. The game was running smoothly in the background, but Google Chrome, the application that I was on, froze. Apperantly, Chrome froze the whole computer except for ROBLOX which you could hear in the background. I decided to turn off the computer via the power button then. On boot, the computer had a black screen for about 5 minutes until an error came up. The errors keep changing, but now, it is "Boot Device Not Found". I have looked around and found out that this is a hard drive issue. When I try to go into BIOS settings or system restore, all that is on the screen is F11 System Restore. Pressing the button, still, keeps me on that screen. I can't even get into Windows. This happened as of yesterday and I'm not sure how the boot device got damaged. I can't afford to go to a repair store, so is there a way to fix the computer at home? I would like not to open it, but I might try. Thank you and I would love a quick response.

HP Recovery partition might have become corrupted.
Tap away F2 key as you power on laptop. Do extensive hard drive and memory test. Let it finish.
Your laptop came with Windows 8.1 with Bing 64 bit.
Have you created HP Recovery USB after first setup of this notebook?
Have you upgraded to Windows 10 Home 64 bit previously?

I didn't create a HP Recovery USB and I haven't upgraded to Windows 10. It is still on Windows 8.1.
