Boot Disk Not Found Hard Disk (3F0)

HP 15-f233w Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Only when plugged in and running, the lapop shuts down.  On reboot, Boot Disk Not Found  Hard Disk (3F0)

 

Never happens on battery only.

 

Today, I Performed a hard reset and Restored BIOS default settings.  
 
Tested the hard drive using HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
 
Also ran HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI on power supply, system board, and memory.  No problems found.  
 
Happened again tonight.
 
Heat?

Welcome to HP Forums and Thanks for the post. 

 

I understand that you are getting a "boot device not found" error on your computer when you power On the computer with the power adapter connected. 

Don't worry, I will be glad to help. 

Kudos to you for trying a lot of troubleshooting steps on your own.

Are you using the power adapter that came with the computer?

Have you made any hardware changes on your computer?

 

As the computer is booting fine without the adapter connected, I feel that the issue is with the power adapter.

Recommend you to try a different power adapter for your computer. 

Some models have a safety, where the power supply unit would block the supply to the internal components for safety. 

Without the power adapter connected, boot the computer to the desktop, run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated. Click here

Open device manager and check which HDD is installed on your computer. 

For Hitachi, install this update.

For Seagate, install this update

The installed disk drive is neither of those, it is a Toshiba MQ01ABF050.

Boot Disk Not Found Hard Disk (3F0)

I have done all suggested, except different AC adapter (not one available).  

 

Still shuts down at times when on AC and battery.  Told granddaughter to remove battery and run on AC only.  Have not heard if more issues.
