Hi

First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.

AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

AND/OR - Windows Logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
(This key sequence actually restarts you graphics drive(W10 only).)

AND/OR - If you’re using multiple displays, try projecting video to a different monitor.
Press the Windows Logo key + P, select a display, and then press Enter.

The 3F0 suggests a Hard Disk failure and it will need replacing.

If in doubt please ask.

Hi John,

This problem usually indicates a failed drive. When you removed the bottom cover did you maybe move the hard drive. You could check the M2 drive, remove and place back.

On page 26 of service manual you can see the steps to place the M2 drive:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04925076

If nothing changes, you can try performing HP hardware diagnostics on the PC. Try the fast test under heading"performing tests when Windows does not start" in document below.

https://support.hp.com/ro-en/document/c03467259

This should give us an idea if the drive has failed.

Let me know,

David

Yes I have done the hard reset with no outcome. I've removed the SSD and reinstalled it, again with no outcome. My real question now is, how do I determine what SSD I have (size, model number or part number) I am unable to retrieve any of that info because it won't boot.

Thanks David for your help. I removed and reinstalled the hard drive with no change. I also ran the UEFI diagnostics and didn't receive a code but the test would not run. It said the hard drive was missing. So now I just need to retrieve any info that will help me buy the correct replacement.  Thanks again !

OK. You have a 256GB SATA3 M2 SSD. You can replace with a drive such as the M2 SATA3 Samsung 860 Evo  or similar of your desired capacity.

Hope it helps,

David

Your welcome John.

You will need to reinstall the OS on the drive. If you need any help with that let me know.

All the best,

David
