What actions are available, if any, to secure my laptop? Unfortunately, I lost the device in a U.S. national park. Per instructions from H-P Tech Support phone call, I have filed a report with the National Park Service and with the concessionaire that runs the building where I last saw the computer. Your suggestions are appreciated.

If you were signed into your device using a Microsoft account (you would know because your login screen would have shown an email address or you would be using a PIN code), then you can follow these instructions from Microsoft:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/11579/microsoft-account-find-and-lock-lost-windows-device
But, if you were signed in to your device using a local account, then you are basically out of luck.

Sorry, but HP has no way to track lost or stolen equipment and no tools you can use to either locate it or to lock it out remotely. If they did, I would have provided links to those in my reply.
