The computer is about a year and a half old, and none of the hardware was changed.
At first, when the notebook would be booted up, it would go past the HP logo and attempt a repair, upon which it would hang up on indefinitely.
Now, after trying a hard reset, it just skips the repair process entirely and freezes on a black screen.
It won't boot off of a Windows 10 repair DVD either, even with the BIOS set to allow it.
I ran a system check, and I was given a failure ID of:
94V61A-7K18A2-MFPWLJ-60TW03
Can anyone help?

Hi,
The 24 character error code is a failure of the short Disk Self Test ( DST ) and would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced. This is also consistent with the boot issues you describe.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - If needed, you can check your warranty status Here.
You can contact HP starting on the link below.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your 17 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation.
