EliteBook 840/850 G3/G5
Microsoft Windows 7 (32-bit)

We are having some trouble changing the bios settings our EliteBooks (G3/G5). We all receive them with UEFI settings for Windows 10 but as we are still deploying Windows 7 x86 in legacy mode we need to change the bios.

The use of the BCU with command-line "BiosConfigUtility64.exe /Set:"HPEliteBook850G5.txt"" is working great but when rebooting the machine an 'authorization code' must be given. A 4 code pin.

This is because we change it from

*Legacy Support Disable and Secure Boot Enable

to

*Legacy Support Enable and Secure Boot Disable

Is it possible to disable this and to move on so the operator don't have to waste time installing machines?

No way that I know of. Part of the overprotective/possessive  trend of Windows 10.

So you mean this screen will always show when changing the settings with BCU? Thats bios and has nothing to do with W10 I think

Yes, but it has to do with HP working with Microsoft on Windows 10 security features.

Ok so to resume, on 5000 machines we will need to manually give the 4 digits each time? We have unattended installs

Not sure what you mean by each time.If you mean each time the machine is rebooted or the OS reinstalled, no. Once the BIOS is changed to Legacy the pin is only needed on the first startup after the change.

I meant 'on each machine'. Is there any way to have this set without user intervention? On Dell and Lenovo machines it does it silently. I can't imagine there isn't a way for HP to do this?

If there is a way I don't know of it. Being a business class laptop there may be. I suggest you call HP Support to inquire:
