Charging light is white but won’t turn on and no signs of life

HP Recommended
Pavilion 15-p199na
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

So, I have an older laptop but it’s bern working fine until yesterday. I clicked on shutdown and it turned itself off and since then there’s no signs of life apart from the charging light is white when the lead is plugged in. I’ve tried taking the battery out and just using the charging lead and vice versa and I’ve tried keeping the power button down for a long time etc. It’s definitely not a screen issue as it was quite noisy and I’d hear if it was on. The lead was a bit dodgy so I’ve bought a new one but no change. It was working fine before but did say there was a battery issue on boot up.

Does the fact that the light comes on mean that it’s definitely charging, or could there still be an issue with the charging jack in the laptop?

Not sure what to try now so any advice would be great 🙂
