HP Envy 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cw0000 (761Y9AV)

THE BATTERY WAS AT 100% WHEN I TURNED OFF THE COMPUTER (LAPTOP) FRIDAY NIIGHT.  MONDAY MORNING THE BATTERY WAS AT 13%.  I WAS TOLD BY SUPPORT THAT IT IS MY PROGRAMS THAT MAKES THIS COMPUTER FREEZE, NOT RESPONDING, OR WHEN I OPEN FILE EXPLOYER.  SO IS IT MY PROGRAMS THAT ALSO CAUSES THE BATTERY TO DRAIN TO AS LOW AS 13%.  NONE OF THIS HAPPENS ON MY OTHER COMPUTERS, BUT MY OTHER COMPUTERS ARE NOT HP.  ON OTHER COMPUTERS THERE ARE MORE PROGRAMS OPEN AT ONCE, AS MANY AS 6 TO 8 PROGRAMS AT THE SAME TIME AND THEY DON'T FREEZE, NOT RESPONDING OR OTHERWISE STOP AND THEY HAVE OLDER PROCESSORS AND LESS MEMORY.

This laptop came with Windows 11 so there is not going back as suggested in another conversation.  What am I to do other than throw my $1700 down the drain and buy another brand.

The newer laptops with Windows 11 do not actually power off when you turn them off, instead, they go into a hybrid sleep state -- which uses battery power.  So, over the course of several days, the battery can run down.  Also, if you put the laptop in a bag, because it is still running, it can overheat and burn out.

What you can try is changing your configuration to power off the laptop completely.

You do this by opening the Power Options in Control Panel, not by using the features in Settings.

Good Luck
