Corrupt Bios on HP 15 Touchsmart Notebook - can't find a download

HP 15 Touchsmart Notebook - F5Y40UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

After setting the BIOS to default settings, my laptop no longer finishes booting. It makes it far enough to display

F10...BIOS SETUP on the bottom left corner of a black screen, but that's all the farther it goes. I have booted the HP diagnostics

from a USB drive and all the hardware is working OK. It appears as though the BIOS/settings may be corrupt. Unfortunately

the BIOS and diagnostics are no longer on their partitions on the hard drive, so a hotkey BIOS update is not possible.

I have looked all over for a BIOS update for this computer, but have not been able to find one.  Does anyone know where

I might find the BIOS update that can be loaded onto a USB drive? or a utility that can be loaded onto a USB drive that would

let me set the default BIOS settings again, or maybe I am missing something?

Thanks

Corrupt Bios on HP 15 Touchsmart Notebook - can't find a download

@RD-Over Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that BIOS is corrupted.

Start with a hard reset to release any excessive static on the PC:

  • If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

  • If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

  • With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

  • With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Attempt to reset or recover the existing BIOS (if the recent update was interrupted): Click here

Step 1: Verify the current BIOS version installed and the correct ROM Family SSID for your PC

Step 2: Find the BIOS updates

Step 3: Download and install the BIOS update
