Hi:

 

HP retired support for your notebook since it is more than 10 years old.

 

The only place that I know of where you can find the last BIOS update HP released for your notebook would be from this reputable 3rd party driver site.

 

HP Compaq Presario CQ42-313AU BIOS (driverscollection.com)

 

I do not recommend trying to update the BIOS unless you are running a supported operating system.
