HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

EliteBook 8560p has startup problems once a week.

The system reports that no boot disk is found.

When inserting the windows 7 install disk and manually repairing the Master Boot Record the system starts fine.

I checked the smart status of my ssd disk and it returned zero errors.

Also, a few times a week I am booting the machine and using the finger print reader to login. The fingerprint reader does not always recognise my finger and / or makes a garbled looking scan of my finger.

These are two seperate problems but I think that they both originate from the HP ProtectTools.

I think that the problem could be in the HP ProtectTools that, I presume, starts -before- windows is even loaded. This could possibly be interferring with the boot record and therefore destroy it.

Does anyone recognise my problem and what did you do to fix it?

I would like to keep using the finger print scanner (and other other features of the HP ProtectTools) but I will remove it if I cannot solve this problem.

Thanks,

Sebastiaan.
