HP Notebook 14-an012nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After turning my computer off by holding the power button into downladown. A little later i decide to get back on mylapptop to do what I was originally doing before but this time it started to boot but stayed grey. I tried all the steps in the video for fixing black screen issues but that failed to work. I can not access the BIOS and I cannot access System recovery. What can I do?

@TheWilliamMan
Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

  • Have you tried connecting the notebook to an external monitor or display?
  • Did this happen after a recent window or software update?

Keep me posted for further assistance.

I did try all of those steps. I already tried taking the ram in and out again. I also tried to install an ssd to try and make itthe boot drive but that sis not work and I can't access the system recovery nor redownload windows 10.

Thia all started after I force shut down the laptop (via hold power button 4+ seconds) when I came to reboot the laptop the grey screen appeared

Hi! @TheWilliamMan,

Thanks for writing to us.

Did you try connecting an external monitor? Does the issue persist?

As you are unable to boot into the BIOS page or F2, it certainly sounds like a hardware issue.
