Got the SMC.BIN File but I already reset my CMOS...

Elitebook 9470m
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hello,

I bought a used Elitebook 9470m on Ebay about a year and a half ago for my wife. Unfortunately, she forgot her Windows password. Thankfully, we have backups of the files on there so I decided I'd just reinstall Windows.

I couldn't boot into the Windows USB because of the boot order and when I went to change it, found a BIOS password. so I decided to reset it by removing the CMOS battery. Little did I know, on Elitebooks, the CMOS trick does not work and the password stayed the same but the BIOS settings were restored to default.

I contacted HP support and got a SMC.bin file from them. I followed their directions using a 2GB flashdrive but the command failed. I believe this is because I had reset the BIOS settings to default so the BIOS time/date doesn't correspond to the SMC.bin file.

Is there anything I can do now?

Thank you.
