Hello, my HP 14S won't start anymore. Had this problem before, thought the charger plug wasn't properly installed. But this doesn't seem to be the problem. Tried other chargers....but this is not the problem. The white light will burn for 5-6 seconds and then stops for 2 seconds and lights again. Etc.etc.

Hi @halvekreeft,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP 14S laptop is not starting and the white light blinks in a pattern (on for 5-6 seconds, then off for 2 seconds), this may indicate a hardware issue. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Perform a Hard Reset: Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if possible). Press and hold the power button for about 15-20 seconds to discharge any residual power. Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on again.
  • Check the Power Adapter and Port: Since you've already tried different chargers, ensure the power port on the laptop is clean and undamaged. Sometimes, debris can prevent a good connection.
  • Test with the Battery Removed: If your model allows, try starting the laptop with just the power adapter connected and the battery removed. If it starts, the battery may be the issue.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Look for any signs of damage, such as liquid spills or impact that might affect the laptop's ability to power on.
  • Listen for Any Beeps or Sounds: If the laptop tries to start but fails, listen for any beeps, which can indicate specific issues. Refer to your user manual for beep codes.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
