HP Notebook - 15-ac149tx
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there,
I have a HP 15-AC149TX laptop, purchased around 2016 with 1TB HDD and 8GB RAM.

I have added 240GB WD Green SSD into DVD drive slot using Caddy.

I want to run the OS (Windows 11/10 or Linux Mint latest) from the WD-240 SSD.
I can run OS from 1TB HD, but not from SSD.

Either installation is not allowing to install OS into SSD or it's not booting to SSD.
If I check from 1TB HD OS, SSD is not recongnised, or unable to access.
I tried interchanging the SSD and HD slot as well, but no luck.
I am not sure what should I do to make it work.

I will post the error images when I reach home. Can anyone please help me to resolve the issue?

Just by chance, I had to reinstall a Win11 desktop yesterday and was reminded that unless ALL the other drives are disconnected, the Windows installer will not allow you to install clean to a new drive, HDD or SDD.  Is that what you are trying to do?

Thanx for your quick reply.

That's exactly what I was trying to do. Finally I replaced the HDD with the SSD and it worked. Later I installed the HDD onto the DVD drive location, now running all fine.

Cheers!!!
