HP ENVY 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-cr1000 (755C2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

Hi there!

I have a 2023 17.3 inch HP Envy laptop that I bought brand new. It is just out of warranty as of October.

I have been having issues getting it to power on. Usually, the power button will light up and then the caps lock key will flash one time and then they both turn off and the computer is not turning on.

I have tried hard resetting with no luck

I tried holding the WIN + B and power, that works and I would get an error sometimes saying the BIOS failed when starting but it updated the BIOS and then the problem keeps happening afterwards it finishes and tries to reset.

I tried holding WIN + V for the CMOS and it says it needs to reset and the same thing happens. It won’t turn back on after resetting.

I have also tried the “hold the power button and press ESC key” every second until you get the diagnostic screen. That worked a couple of times and I was able to run a short test. It came back as fine every time except one time it had one “warning” next to hard drive SSD/ short DST check. It only did that one time.

I tried running a longer test and it would freeze up half way through.

at one point I got it to turn on and I was able to take an updated bios on a flash drive and download it but that did not fix the issue. My computer would keep freezing anytime I’d try using it for more than 5 minutes.

and so that brings us to now, it won’t turn on at all. No matter what I try. When I try powering on the power button is lit for a second or two and then the caps lock button flashes once and then they both turn off.

please help 🥲

thanks!

Hi @Bmass8221,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I'm really sorry to hear about the persistent issues with your laptop; I can only imagine how frustrating and discouraging this must be for you.

This looks like a hardware issue.

If you have performed all the steps from this document and it did not help, this unit might need service.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
