HP ENVY x2 - 12-e091ms
Microsoft Windows 10 in S Mode

I bought an HP ENVY x2 - 12-e091ms yesterday, Windows updated overnight, then the Microsoft Store did not work. As you cannot fix anything or change out of S mode to Pro without the store, I asked Windows to restore to before the update. Now Windows will not boot, it goes to start up repair. None of the reset/restore features work; I click reset windows and it goes back to the first troubleshooting page, same with restore, start up repair, restore from image, etc.

I just bought this yesterday, I'm not about to pay $50 to have HP ship me a recovery USB because their product doesn't work with default settings out of the box.

Can anyone offer me a solution? Over wise I plan to just return it.

Note, I'm a software developer with a fair amount of windows repair experience.

To anyone who has this issue, I found a solution.

First, get into the UEFI menu, I got there by selecting "UEFI Fireware Settings" under the troubleshooting options, but according to HP you can press ESC as the computer starts.

After that, I selected the restore/reset option in the UEFI menu, it brought me to the same blue Windows troubleshooting page, but now all the options worked. I guess maybe routing through the UEFI had access that the default Windows boot did not?
